The heartbeat of Umrah is Tawaf — seven graceful circuits around the sacred Kaaba, beginning from the corner where the Black Stone (Hajr al-Aswad) is located.
As you approach the Black Stone, raise your right hand and say:
“Bismillah, Allahu Akbar”
(In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest)
If possible, kiss the Black Stone like the Prophet ﷺ did. If not, just point towards it and say the Takbeer.
🔹 Start your Tawaf with the Kaaba on your left side, moving anti-clockwise.
🔸 Men: Perform Ramal (brisk walk with slight shoulder movement) in the first 3 rounds (Sunnah). Walk normally in the last 4.
Let your tongue stay alive with dhikr, duas, istighfar, or Qur’an. No specific dua is fixed except between the Yamani Corner and the Black Stone, where the Prophet ﷺ used to say:
“Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah wa qina ‘adhaban-nar.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:201)
“Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
Each round is a surrender, each step a memory of Ibrahim (AS), Ismail (AS), and Muhammad ﷺ — who all walked this same circle.
After completing the 7th round, cover your right shoulder again (if doing Idtiba’) and prepare for prayer behind the Maqam Ibrahim.
